MISSION PROJECTS:
Guatemala Update- Clowns of Faith Ministries-I’ve got good news from Guatemala. Randy Harbin, Clowns of Faith Ministries, recently took nine clowns to Amberes, Guatemala to minister in that area. It was money well invested for the Kingdom of God said Randy. It cost more than $11,500 to take the team. Each clown was responsible for raising his/her portion of the trip. They worked for most of the money doing fundraisers and working the parking lots of Wal-Mart s for donations. It was a lot of work that paid big dividends. The trip was a great success.
The nine clowns divided into two groups each performing in two schools daily. They literally presented the gospel to three thousand students and adults. It was awesome. I ask Randy to give me some idea of the number of salvations. His reply was; “to be honest, there were so many people coming to Jesus there was no way to keep track of them.”
I was at one of their fund raisers shortly before their leaving and had a chance to sow into their mission trip. Look at the harvest they reaped for the Kingdom of God. They’ve been asked to return again this fall and go to Honduras in 2009. God is at work in the Clowns of Faith Ministries. Great job!
30 acres for Cowboy Church-
We continue to make progress with the cowboys in Guatemala. A piece of property to build the first Cowboy Church headquarters and training center is needed for the Cowboy ministry. Cesar located a 30 acre piece of land owned by an American near Amberes with a right price. The man is willing to sell the property for $1000 per acre. So we need to sow into this project and believe that God will provide. The 30 acres gives plenty of room for future growth. Building a model is a significant training tool and while they may not be able to come up with the entire amount to close the deal, they can be put in a position to rely on God for providing the rest. The plan is to raise enough money to almost make the purchase. Then they will be taught to sow their own finances into the project and trust God to make it come about. We can teach them faith, trust and giving. Cesar has committed $10,000 toward the purchase of the land so they are already one- third of the way to their goal.
Boot Camp:
It’s time to go to Guatemala again. This is one of the scheduled trips I reported at the last quarterly meeting. I must be honest and say that I wasn’t terribly excited about going on this trip. I began whining to the Lord this morning about poor pitiful me, how busy I am and how I don’t have time to go to Guatemala this trip, and how it would be a waste of time for me to go there because I’m unable to speak their language. And besides, why should I be a speaker for the Cowboys who can’t understand me? And as in the past, I don’t have the funds to go (like that ever stopped God).
Perhaps we should recall the reasons you’d be going to Guatemala, I sensed the Lord saying. For starters, you’ve successfully started a Cowboy Church and these Cowboys in Guatemala are coming to hear how I used you to start that Cowboy Church. Don’t forget that I’ve called you to this kind of work. Another important reason you’re going is because there are more than 50 leaders signed up to attend this training session and what you have to share with them is going to encourage them and give them a boost. They will be empowered when they hear what I can do through a simple man like you. The 50 leaders are going to return home and start churches in the communities in which they live and as a result hundreds of people are going to join the kingdom of God through faith in Jesus Christ. Marriages will be saved, children will have parents at home to teach them about their new found faith in Jesus, alcoholics will be delivered and addicts will be set free. Is your busy schedule more important than these?
If you analyze what you’ve been working on the last couple of days I think you will understand why you were the one I chose to create the training materials for the conference. Clearly you need to be there.
So; what do you say when you’ve been rebuked by the Lord? You need someone in Guatemala Lord? Here Am I Send Me!
